They have created history in the LGBTQ community by being the first openly transgender and non-binary solo singers, respectively, to accomplish the feat of reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The accomplishment is being praised as being of great significance. The song “Unholy,” which was a collaboration between Kim Petras, who was born in Germany, and Sam Smith, who was born in the United Kingdom, has soared to the top of the charts in the United States. Petras and Smith both hail from Germany.
The success of the song is being commended for its importance not just because it is the first time that an openly transgender and a non-binary solo artist, respectively, have landed at the top position of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, but also because it is the first time that both of these firsts have occurred.

Petras expressed her gratitude by writing, “I am so grateful,” in a post that she published on Instagram. I would want to express my deepest thanks to you, Sam, for being by my side for such a significant number of years. It is a great pleasure for me to be a part of your first number one in the United States of America… Angel Sam, I will always adore you a great deal. Keep it up!
Petras moved to Los Angeles when she was 19 years old. She was born in the city of Cologne in Germany in the year 1992. Petras moved to Los Angeles. She had very little money and very few contacts when she first began out, and she slept on couches at studios. She also had very few connections. In 2018, she gave an interview to DW in which she described her experience in detail. “Every day, I wrote three or four songs, I got to know people, and I contacted them on the internet.”
In answer to a query about her reaction at the time, Petras said that she sung what she referred to as “unapologetic pop.” Lady Gaga’s previous manager, Troy Carter, had referred to her as “the best thing in the world of pop since Gaga’s debut.” This was a rebuttal to Carter’s statement.
“Those things had not been present in the previous eras. In addition to being able to blend my own ideas, the lyrics that I write are entirely original to me. To add insult to injury, it would seem that others think it to be rather cool. She shared with DW that “that is pretty awesome.” DW was aware of this.
In the time that has passed since then, she has garnered a name for herself in the United States of America and has been on tour with musicians such as Camila Cabello, Charli XCX, and Rita Ora.
Since ‘Stay With Me’ hit No. 2 on the chart in 2014, ‘Unholy’ has been the song that has achieved the highest peak on the list for Smith. As far as Petras’s career is concerned, this is also the most significant success he has ever had in the United States up to this point. ‘Unholy’ was already starting to get broad notice when Smith released a clip of the song on TikTok in August. This was a sign that the song was beginning to gain success.

In 2018, Petras issued a statement to DW in which she said that she does not create songs that are specifically about transsexuality.
“It is possible that I will carry it out at some time in the future. On the other hand, I have discovered that I am most at ease when writing on topics that are considered to be rather common. Transsexuality is not something that I find to be extremely inspirational, despite the fact that I find my sentiments to be motivating.
“I just really don’t want to be the last,” she said to the newspaper when her song was still at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 list. “I just really don’t want to be the last.”
“Transgender artists have always been incredible and talented,” the author adds in their writing. For the sake of simplicity, I would want to express my appreciation to Sam for giving me the chance to shine here. Being able to declare that people are now ready for us to be successful is something that provides me a great lot of joy. It seems that people are now prepared for us to be successful.
Smith, who just revealed to Billboard that she identifies as non-binary, said that “people understanding us… is just the best feeling in the world.” This statement was made in the meanwhile. Everything is love since there is nothing unpleasant happening here. This is the reason why everything is love. There is currently no one who is being deprived of anything at this moment. People are merely trying to maintain their existence on this earth by surviving in their own flesh with their bodies.
